Color belt testing occurs in March, July, and November. Student must attend 80% of training sessions between testing periods in order to be eligible to test.

To test for shodan black belt and higher, students must attend a seminar that offers dan testing. Most students attend the annual summer camp in New Orleans.

All students must be members of JKAAF ($30) and have purchased the JKA “passport” ($30).
